Composable Architecture

Every organization wants solutions that are agile and easy to manage. They need to be able to make changes or replace components quickly to stay ahead of the competition.

Discover how to create composable building blocks that can be used across different contexts. And learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of your composable architecture and identify areas for improvement, by linking to business architecture concepts such as customer journeys and capability maps.

Composable Architecture

What is this masterclass about?

Every organization wants solutions that are agile and easy to manage. They need to be able to make changes or replace components quickly to stay ahead of the competition.

Gartner's concept of composable architecture provides an answer to this challenge by enabling modular and autonomous application building blocks. These building blocks can be reused in different business contexts, making it easier to create value with IT investments. And it will enable your enterprise to plan for many futures.

But implementing a composable architecture can be challenging. Requiring a more conscious approach. This masterclass, based on our experiences and practices, is designed to teach you the skills and techniques needed to create and evaluate composable architecture.

You'll learn how to enable more business value from your IT investments by building agile solutions that can be easily managed, updated, and reused.

Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises, you'll discover how to create composable building blocks that can be used across different contexts.

You will also learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of your composable architecture and identify areas for improvement, by linking to business architecture concepts such as customer journeys and capability maps.

By mastering the principles of composable architecture, you'll have a unique skill set that can make a real, visible difference for your organization.

Through our masterclass, you'll gain the skills and knowledge needed to design and evaluate a composable architecture, enabling you to build modular, autonomous, and easy-to-manage solutions.

You'll learn how to create building blocks that can be easily reused across different business contexts, making creating value with your IT investments easier.

Program

In this masterclass, you will learn the meaning, benefits, and key principles of composable architecture, as well as how to define composable architecture on distinct levels, including enterprise, solution, and software.

Specifically, you will learn how to:

  • Define a future state with composability as an enterprise architecture principle.
  • Define customer journeys through enterprise design, mapping out the different touchpoints and interactions between customers and how they impact the capabilities the organization must develop.
  • Identify service domains and shape PBCs (Packaged Business Capabilities) (Packaged Business Capability) using Domain Driven Design, enabling you to create modular, reusable building blocks that can be easily adapted to different business contexts.
  • Define a solution architecture with composability as a quality attribute, ensuring that your solutions are agile, adaptable, and easy to manage.
  • Implement the composable architecture based on MACH principles (Microservices-based, API-first, Cloud-native, and Headless), which promote modularity, autonomy, connectivity, and discovery.

Throughout the masterclass, you will also learn how to evaluate the composability of an architecture, using criteria outlined in Gartner's composable business index. These criteria include:

  • Modularity: Ensuring that different components can be easily swapped in and out, enabling organizations to quickly adapt to changing business needs.
  • Autonomy: Ensuring that different components deliver a clearly defined value with minimal interdependencies, reducing complexity and increasing agility.
  • Orchestration: Ensuring that connectivity between data, analytics, and application components is manageable and standardized, enabling organizations to create new orchestration patterns as needed quickly.
  • Discovery: Ensuring that various components are identified and documented, making it easy to import, export, and manage them as needed.

In addition, you'll gain a deep understanding of how composable architecture can be applied in practice, with real-world examples from various industries. You'll also have the opportunity to work on a case study and hands-on exercises, enabling you to apply the concepts and techniques you've learned in a practical setting.

By the end of the masterclass, you'll have the skills and knowledge needed to design and evaluate composable architecture solutions that are agile, adaptable, and easy to manage, providing your organization with a competitive edge in today's fast-paced business environment.
