Training@inno.com

Inno.com attaches a lot of importance to the acquiring and the broadening of knowledge. In order to encourage the improvement of their competences, in 2003 Inno.com staff had the chance to apply for and follow a mini-MBA course. In collaboration with the University of Antwerp Management School, Inno.com outlined a training course. All topics were on offer, albeit in reduced form. The programme included sessions about general management, strategic thinking, an introduction to basic financial concepts, marketing, staff management, change management and logistics.

Not only must our consultants understand technology very well, they must also be able to communicate this knowledge to the client. They must be capable of listening, negotiating, giving presentations and leading meetings; they must be convincing and intuitive and know when to observe or to sense what is happening. This is why Inno.com also organised a complete training course. This programme was named MEA, which stands for Master Enterprise Architect. The MEA offers courses to improve and deepen both technological and business knowledge, as well as soft skills. Amongst the courses offered there were sessions about IT Master plans, which answered questions such as “What is an ICT Master plan?”, “How is it set up and ultimately implemented?” Planning Estimation Techniques are some of the most exciting and important activities in software development. The corresponding workshop focussed on two estimating techniques and its practical uses. The series of information sessions about IT Governance, organised together with ADM, enabled participants to discover and become familiar with IT Governance. Inno.com also organised a Time management workshop, which concentrated on problems regarding time management and priorities. Up until now, the MBTI sessions have had the most success. 80% of Inno.com members took part in these 4 sessions. ‘Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom’ (Tao-proverb). This was exactly the sort of intelligence and wisdom on offer in the ‘MBTI’ workshop. Myers Briggs Type Indicator is a personality inventory based on solid scientific evidence, that has proved its value for over 60 years now. MBTI is very accessible and easy to use. In a quick and un-intimidating way, it provides the means to assess your preferences and those of others: how do we prefer to work? How do we learn best? How can we interact with others in the best way? How do we prefer to organise ourselves? And above all: where can it all go wrong?, … are all questions which can be answered quickly and efficiently. Finally, other courses like MEA SOA, Project Management, Business Process Modelling... are planned.
